She made music history on February 5 when she became the first transgender woman to win Best Pop Duo/Group performance at the Grammys.
During her emotional acceptance speech, Petras thanked pop music icon and LGBTQ+ advocate Madonna, and paid tribute to the late artist SOPHIE.
She said: ‘I’m the first transgender woman to win this award; I want to thank all the incredible transgender legends before me who kicked these doors open.
‘SOPHIE especially, my friend who passed away two years ago who told me this would happen and always believed in me.
Thank you so much for your inspiration, SOPHIE. I adore you and your inspiration will always be in my music.’
Last summer Petras confirmed her third studio album Problématique had been scrapped.
The next month many songs believed to be on the album leaked online, with Petras tweeting: ‘It’s ok if u wanna listen to the leaks…
I’m not getting to put out any music anyways I’m f****d.’

Kim has been making music for half of her life, growing her influence via club appearances, social media, songwriting collaborations with famous artists, and friendships with stars including Paris Hilton.
She has spoken about her desire to increase transgender visibility and become a role model for transgender youth.
The star first shot into the public eye in 2006 at age 13 when she appeared on TV show Stern to discuss her gender transition.
Kim – born Tim – began calling herself a girl when she was just two years old.
She started having hormone replacement therapy as part of her gender transition by the age of 12.
She later convinced doctors that she should have gender reassignment surgery.
By 14 she was officially registered as a girl, with the future star appearing in a documentary and a talk show to campaign for permission to get early gender reassignment surgery at age 16, two years before the minimum required age of 18 in Germany.
Kim was 16 when she became the youngest person to have gender reassignment surgery, with her appearances leading her to be dubbed ‘the world’s youngest transsexual.’

After the surgery in 2009, Kim said: ‘Everything has changed because of this operation. I just can’t wait to put on my favorite bathing suit and go swimming like I’ve never done before.
‘I had to wait until my 16th birthday but once that was past I was able legally to have the operation.
In a poignant quote at the start of her music career, she said: ‘I know that because of my past people will always bring up the subject, I can’t get away from it.
But I hope that one day I might be better known for something else like my music.’
In 2008, Kim was signed to Joyce Records and released her first single Last Forever, which became a YouTube and MySpace hit.
